Hmm...
As for the subject that is going around...
I think most of the admirals didn't help Kircheis because they were
surprised, but I get the feeling that they could have done something to
help Kircheis once the fight was over. At least Mittenmeyer tried to do
something. Reuental just didn't even try. (Incidently, among the
admirals, I thought he was the most jealous of Kircheis's closeness to
Rheinhard. He makes several comments throughout the series.)
As for it being too late to save Kircheis because he was shot through the
chest (I personally didn't think he got shot through the heart, or else
he would have died much sooner than he would have), it was pointed out in
the anime before, the medicaltechnology is very advanced. It could have
been that Kircheis could have been saved if the medics were called in
earlier... Yeah, I know, this is one of those "could have been's..." But
so is if Kircheis was able to keep his weapon before entering the chamber.)
